My Conversation with 180 Film Co Star Vanessa Leinani
Hey everyone! Recently I had the chance to do a cyber conversation with 180 Film co star Vanessa Leinani She is a truly down to earth and cool person. I would like to present our conversation and also would like to introduce Vanessa to my blog readers . Thank you sooo much Vanessa for approving this chat and for believing in my abilities. You rock!
BP: Thanks Vanessa, how did you get your start? Do you prefer stage or film as your vehicle?
VL: I started at 2 yrs. old. My father started a theater, so I got included into the theatrical productions at an early age and got to work in all different aspects of the theater. I continued on in music and theater while I was growing up, later working in a repertory theater. The frustrating thing with theater is that you could never quite gain the visibility for your performing like you can with film.
For instance, if I do one film, that film can be seen all over the world by a very large amount of people, whereas on stage, whatever you do for that run is only seen by the people who actually came in person to attend. Also, in film you learn your lines, you come in, do the job, and you're on to the next project. Additionally, you can be doing simultaneous projects.
Depending on which theater you're with, it can be more demanding on your time as far as rehearsals go, and then you have a run of a show. Film provides the opportunities for royalties via DVD distribution, broadcasting, etc. Theater is something that I love, it's a great experience, but from a business perspective, film offers a greater possibility of profit as well as an efficient use of time in that my time isn't as committed to one project, so, I can do more. Of course, that all depends on if someone chooses me to be on their project, but at least, the opportunity is there.
So, that's how I got drawn into film.
BP: How did you hear about 180? Was it through the Fan Page, online or by word of mouth?
VL: 180-first by word of mouth, then I saw the poster and followed the 180 facebook fan page for info.
BP: I have heard about Bail Out and it looks like it s gonna be an awesome film. What is it's premise and where was it shot?VL: Bail Out: A New York City detective, Jimmy O’Neill, finds solace, excitement and a new career in Fort Worth, Texas. Leaving the NYPD because he had a run in with the mob and his dept. Turns out the mobster was also a NYC councilman. He recruits his NYPD partner, Marty, and together they bring their New York ways to the laid back streets of Cow Town. While in TX, his uncle wants him to take over the family business. A Bail Bonds co. Both Jimmy (played by Dennis O'neill) and his partner Marty (played by Terri Kiser) help out when they become Private Investigators instead. This show is a true life love affair with NY and Ft. Worth, TX
Bail Out has a short film version that should be in film festivals either late summer or fall. In the meantime, we are pitching it to major television networks in hopes of getting it picked up as a regular tv series to be shot in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Many of our talent have been on major tv shows already, such as IN PLAIN SIGHT, PRISON BREAK, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, etc. etc. You might even recognize Terry Kiser, he played the dead guy in WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S and has an extensive film/tv career.
BP: Do you have any other projects in the near future that you are involved with? If so what are they?VL: There is a web series I am starring in with Jason Brasier, the writer/director, called DRIFTER: Broken Road. The project has been delayed due to 180 and the fact that we would like to raise more funds for this project. This will be filming in the Springfield, MO area.
I have another film project that was mentioned to me, but since that isn't set in stone, I'll hold off on that.
The Spanish short film called "The Butcher of San Antone" is in post-production status, and will be released later this year or next year. Parts of the short film were used in the music video of the same name "The Butcher of San Antone" by the band Tumbledown.
The feature film called "The Purse" by Chris Owen at Owen Boys Productions is currently on hiatus. Chris encountered some medical problems, but is looking forward to ramping up production in NY again once he feels in good health again.
Hopefully, I'll be able to tell you about more singing and acting projects in the future, until then, those are all the irons I have in the fire. ;
BP: You are very cool Vanessa and will have an amazing career! Thank you for allowing me the time to do this. I definitely will check out the next projects as I think Butcher of San Antone, Bail Out, The Purse and 180 will really be great films! I do believe these films will help you grow further in your craft and will bring you even more juicier roles! Maybe even one of Maria Callas :)
YOU ROCK!!!!
VL: Thank you, Brenda. It is a sincere pleasure to speak with you. You're doing an excellent job, and I thank you many times over for everything you are doing to help us spread the word.

180 Film From A Fan's Point Of View
As many of you know I am a full fledged supporter of the film 180. The film's premise is of a rock star named Gavin Larson (played by Coach Benjamin Wade of Survivor fame) who was at the top of his game during the 1980's, when in a tragic set of circumstances, his band the Zebras, died in a tragic plane crash. As a result of this, Gavin ends up having to start over again. He learns a valuable lesson and has to make a new start by approaching the people he met along the way to begin again. Can he in effect, do a "180" and make a new start with these people he met along the way?
As a fan of music during the 1970's and 1980's I can relate to how the lifestyles were during this period of time. It was sheer decadence and rock and roll 24/7. I think of this premise and think of the experience of a certain band like Lynyrd Skynyrd who also at the height of their career suffered a similar fate.
In the case of Lynyrd Skynyrd, at the height at their fame in 1977, the band suffered a devastating plane crash that took the lives of lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines (who was somewhat new to the group) and back up singer Cassie Gaines. (all pictured below)
What eventually happened in the case of Skynyrd is they were able to regroup and came back as the Rossington Collins Band
They had two successful albums in the early 1980's. Eventually there was the The Allen Collins Band which also was a spin off of the original band. The band later regrouped again as Lynyrd Skynyrd adding the brother of the late lead singer, Ronnie Van Zant; Johnny Van Zant, as their lead singer. I got to see Lynyrd Skynyrd in their prime and later saw the new revamped band in Colorado in concert, and can say the band was just as phenomenal, so yes it can be done!
A great interview on the regrouping and loss can be found online by clicking on the "interview" link.
I will admit when I read the premise I was drawn to the movie and to the age old idea of being able to regroup and making a change that will be as successful as the first was. The movie offers a glimpse into this lifestyle and to what the future will hold for Gavin upon having to rise from the ashes. Will he be able to? Can Gavin Larson do a 180 and regain his success?
The movie will premiere in December so please tune in and find out.

The Maing of 180 Film Cast and Crew to Date
Below info comes from 180 Film Fan Page. For those who don't have Facebook, please feel free to follow filming with this blog instead. Below is the process from start to most recent. Photo Descriptions come from 180 Film Fan Page.
Getting everything set up for the shoot tonight. This is one of the planes that we have. Different sections will be used from each plane. It started raining at 6pm and we started getting worried. Sky is clear and everything is going well!
Shot from last night. Several people in the plane and several people in the door way.
Coach Wade is on set and full of energy like always! When Coach is here everyone else steps up another level. He is motivating and pushes everyone else to do their best. The set is almost ready and everyone is ready to go.
Seconds away from rolling cameras to start production!
Getting into costume!
Hurry up and wait for our scene!
The band is in the airplane and a couple of guys are working the lights from outside.
Shooting at the hotel. Started at 8 this morning and we are still going.
Reviewing some of the footage. Looks great so far!
Getting ready for the car scene.
Does this look safe?
They are getting away!!!!
That's a wrap for today!

4th floor please. Yes, 4th floor. Can some hit the 4th floor? Anyone else want on?

Dinner time.

Back in the hotel room and guess what. It's hot again. There is a break dancer coming tonight also. They will try to get some footage of that too!
Check this out!
Ready to go! 1st level of the hotel. Carpet isn't the best for this but they are practicing right now.
In this photo: Bailey Diehl, Bill エイジ Nguyen
Chris kind of looks ominous in this picture. Like he is staring at me from a dark room in the distance. And I just happen to notice that he is fixated on me.
More pictures of recording from the hotel room.

Guess who is on set tonight! Danielle! :-)
Danielle and Coach Wade are working great together! We are only shooting each scene a couple times because they are know what they are doing. You can tell that they are used to the cameras. They also both know their lines really well. Danielle said she has been memorizing lines ever since she accepted the role in 180.
Recording audio. Microphones, wires, cables, and everything. He listens for two things. 1) the sounds that are supposed to be recorded and 2) the sounds that shouldn't be record.
Getting ready to put on more make up. Although right know she is having computer problems.
In this photo: Gary McClurg, Brooke Thompson
More online poker.
Pictured: David Ybarra
Michael seriously was ran over by the cleaning cart. He was holding the pain in until the scene was over. That's the attitude it takes to make an awesome movie!
Come on people let's get this show on the road! Coach Wade keeps pushing. The guy doesn't stop!
The rest of us are getting tired. But, it's almost lunch time!
Things are going down hill fast. Ok yes, we are getting tired. :-)
Umm yeah.
It's taking a little longer than expected to set up the light. We are sound checking and tuning now. All of the Actors are about to get here. Everything better be ready to go when Coach Wade and Steve Ewing get here. Then it's go time!
Coach is on set! First thing he said "Are we ready to go?!"
Weeks to date. I love 180!!!!!
